Checkr needed a scalable authentication platform because its homegrown solution, while secure, was too time-consuming to maintain and couldn’t keep up with growth. The company evaluated options based on SAML, enterprise and social login support, uptime/SLA guarantees, and engineering effort, and ultimately chose Okta’s Auth0 platform because it “checked all of our boxes.”

Okta’s Auth0 enabled Checkr to support multiple login methods for different customer types, including username/password, Google and GitHub social logins, partner authentication, and SAML connections for larger enterprises. Running in a private cloud also improved flexibility and security, and features like Rules and brute force protection helped Checkr detect anomalies and respond to threats faster. The solution now supports about 24,000 business user logins each month, while reducing engineering overhead and improving confidence in uptime and data isolation.
