A Okta Case Study

Preview of the Hitachi Case Study

Hitachi unifies governance and access for ~480,000 global users

Hitachi, a global enterprise with hundreds of thousands of employees and partners, needed a more agile and secure identity infrastructure to support rapid mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and a growing Zero Trust strategy. Using Okta, the company aimed to unify authentication and governance across a highly complex, multinational environment while reducing reliance on on-premises systems.

Okta implemented cloud-based identity infrastructure including Okta Identity Governance, MFA, Device Trust, and workflows to centralize access and automate identity reviews. The results include securing about 480,000 identities, authenticating 1,500 applications, cutting identity integration time from around six months to one to three months, and reducing 41 tons of CO2 per year by eliminating on-premises authentication servers.
