Health Research Inc. Pivots Quickly to Remote Work with Okta

Health Research Inc. (HRI) is a nonprofit supporting public health and research programs, but its homegrown applications and identity tools were difficult to maintain and couldn’t support a sudden shift to remote work during COVID-19. The organization needed a secure way to give about 4,000 users access to in-house and cloud apps from anywhere, without rewriting code or overloading its small IT team.

Okta provided the solution with Single Sign-On and Okta Access Gateway, helping HRI extend secure access to its hybrid environment. Okta was deployed in less than four weeks, integrated with 25+ apps in the first month, and went live successfully for 1,200 users during a major timesheet deadline. The result was faster, more secure access, less IT support burden, and a better user experience, while giving HRI visibility into logins and a foundation for future MFA and lifecycle management.
