CityU Untangling legacy systems through a unified identity portal

CityU, the City University of Hong Kong, was struggling with a patchwork of legacy, on-prem, and cloud systems that forced students, staff, alumni, and contractors to juggle multiple login credentials across more than 200 apps and services. The university turned to Okta and its identity platform to unify access and simplify user and IT management.

Working with implementation partner Master Concept, CityU used Okta Customer Identity and Okta APIs to create a single sign-on experience across its environment. The result was 200+ apps and services unified, 30,000 active users moved to Okta-enabled SSO, and 90% of CityU apps and services linked in less than a year, while also improving visibility, support, and future-proofing the university’s identity strategy with Okta.
