Avery Dennison Secures and Simplifies the User Experience with Okta Access Gateway

Avery Dennison, a global materials science company with more than 32,000 employees, faced growing identity and access challenges as mergers and acquisitions added many apps and inconsistent usernames. The company turned to Okta, using Okta Single Sign-On and later Okta Access Gateway, to simplify authentication for employees while improving security and supporting legacy systems.

Okta helped Avery Dennison implement a streamlined SSO approach without replacing existing Oracle user IDs, avoiding a time-consuming six-month user ID conversion. In less than two hours, Avery Dennison updated more than 4,700 usernames, and within five more hours Access Gateway was live. The result was 150+ apps integrated with Okta, 27 new apps added during implementation, and 32,000 users accessing the IT environment through Okta.
