A Ok Alone Case Study
The City of Kelowna faced a challenge ensuring the safety of its water testing and meter reading technicians, who frequently worked alone in isolated and variable locations. Their previous manual, paper-based safety monitoring system with CB radios was cumbersome and inefficient. To meet government compliance and improve employee safety, the city sought an automated solution and partnered with the vendor Ok Alone to implement its lone worker safety monitoring service.
Ok Alone provided an intuitive app-based solution that was easily rolled out to employees' phones. The implementation resulted in improved compliance with mandated safety policies, more efficient risk assessments, and timely responses to emergencies via features like the "help" button. By later integrating Ok Alone with the Geotab telematics solution, the city gained further benefits in dispatching, route optimization, and having a unified dashboard for both vehicle and staff location, creating a comprehensive one-stop shop for field work safety and efficiency.
