George Lodge & Sons, a Hull‑based bearings and power transmission distributor with over 120 years in business, needed to modernise from a largely paper-based operation and improve efficiency across 11 branches and a 30‑vehicle fleet. Partnering with OGL Computer in 2005, they first implemented OGL’s Neptune solution and later moved to the flagship profITplus back‑office system; a major challenge arrived when a tidal surge flooded their head office and took local servers and PCs offline.
OGL Computer delivered a hosted/cloud profITplus implementation with profITplus disaster recovery, providing a virtual copy of the customer data so George Lodge & Sons could regain access to core systems the same evening with only an internet connection. The solution allowed them to continue trading through the crisis, drove significant operational efficiencies and, according to the customer, contributed to a 50% increase in turnover since implementing profITplus.
