Case Study: Danfast achieves 24-hour IT recovery and business continuity after Hull tidal surge with OGL Computer

A OGL Computer Case Study

Preview of the Danfast Case Study

Flooded Danfast premises requires full-scale deployment of Data Recovery strategy

Danfast, a Hull‑based family business of about 20 staff supplying plumbing, heating, electrical and consumable products to the portable and modular buildings sector, suffered catastrophic IT loss when a tidal surge from the River Humber flooded their offices on December 5, 2013. Long‑time partner OGL Computer — which hosted Danfast’s prof.ITplus business system and provided hardware support and disaster recovery services — was called in to enact the company’s disaster recovery plan.

OGL Computer used its fully managed disaster recovery service with nightly cloud backups (contracted SLA RTO: 24 hours) to restore virtual access to prof.ITplus, enabling Danfast to log in remotely by the same day and resume trading while damaged servers were replaced. OGL Computer’s rapid deployment and restoration kept the business operational, allowed prof.ITplus to be reinstalled on new, higher‑placed servers, and saw Danfast fully operational again by February 2014 — preventing a complete business shutdown and ensuring continuity.
