TalkTalk, a major UK telecoms and media provider, needed to move faster on data-driven decisions, adapt to customer needs and improve repair processes while meeting new GDPR requirements. Recognizing the scalability, resilience and cost benefits of cloud PaaS, and building on an existing Azure relationship from its blinkbox acquisition, TalkTalk engaged Microsoft partner endjin to modernize its data capabilities and raise data maturity.
endjin and TalkTalk first built an Azure Machine Learning anomaly detection system for TV set‑top box data (processing ~15GB/day) with Power BI insights, then delivered a modern data platform using Azure Data Lake, Data Lake Analytics and Data Factory for real‑time and batch pipelines, security best practices, DevOps and PII masking/pseudonymisation for GDPR. The programme boosted in‑house Azure skills, created repeatable, scalable delivery across teams and improved the company’s ability to make fast, secure data‑driven decisions while preparing to migrate more on‑prem systems to the cloud.
