Proving the Concept of One-to-One Devices Using Microsoft Intune for Education

Calvert County Public Schools, serving about 16,000 students in Maryland, set out to provide a one-to-one device for every student but faced a mixed-device environment, limited IT staff, and the need to prove a scalable, secure model to secure further funding. Program Coordinator Joel Parmer needed a way to simplify deployment and management, demonstrate classroom adoption, and protect student data while transitioning from shared carts to take-home Windows 10 devices.

By adopting Microsoft Intune for Education with Windows 10 devices (supported by Office 365 and Azure Active Directory), Calvert County streamlined enrollment, centralized management, and applied group or individual configurations from a single dashboard. The district now manages nearly 9,000 devices more easily, reduced reconfiguration work, improved security and personalized sign-ins on shared machines, and built the proof-of-concept and operational confidence needed to advance toward full one-to-one access and better learning outcomes.
