Browning Law Group, a business and real estate law firm in Orange County founded by John Browning, faced the common small‑firm challenge of spending too much time managing technology and not enough on client work. With strict obligations to protect client confidentiality and without the budget for on‑premises servers or heavy IT overhead, the firm needed a simple, secure, integrated collaboration environment that would let lawyers and staff work from anywhere.

In 2015 the firm adopted Microsoft Office 365—using Outlook, Skype for Business, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online, and OneNote—to provide synchronized, mobile access to files and communications and to enforce security controls (including password protection and two‑step verification) across more than 30,000 documents and 15 SharePoint portals. The cloud solution improved responsiveness and productivity, saved up to an estimated 250 hours a year, and helped the small firm deliver first‑class, secure services while competing with larger firms.
