Land O’Lakes, a $13 billion member-owned agricultural cooperative with about 10,000 employees working across dairy, feed, and crop-input businesses, faced a dispersed workforce that relied on fragmented tools and heavy email/phone communication. Field-based agronomists and sales teams struggled to access up-to-date information and collaborate efficiently, and the company also contended with costly e-discovery and security challenges.

Starting in 2013 Land O’Lakes moved to Office 365 (Exchange Online, Office 365 ProPlus, SharePoint/OneDrive, Yammer, Advanced Threat Protection) and deployed Surface Pro devices for mobile workers. The cloud rollout delivered consistent, anywhere access to email and documents, replaced multiple file‑sharing tools with a secure managed solution, shifted e-discovery to the legal team (saving hundreds of thousands in outside legal fees), strengthened email security, and boosted collaboration, agility, and talent appeal.
