Advocate Health Care, the largest healthcare provider in Illinois with more than 35,000 associates across 250+ care sites, needed to modernize an aging, siloed communications infrastructure while controlling costs and maintaining HIPAA security. Faced with multiple acquisitions and dispersed teams, the organization sought a unified communications platform to improve collaboration, reduce administration, and support better patient care.

Advocate migrated to Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Skype for Business) with Slalom Consulting, using single sign-on and a HIPAA-compliant BAA to ensure security and a smooth cutover. The cloud solution enabled organization-wide document sharing, self-service collaboration sites, real-time communication and presence, and clinical workflows for patient follow-up; it avoided an estimated $4 million in upgrade costs plus about $1 million per year in IT savings, sped onboarding of acquired sites, reduced help-desk load, and strengthened collaboration that supports improved patient care.
