Global Retailer Improves Communications and Business Processes with Cloud Solution

Helly Hansen, a Norway‑based global maker of high‑performance outdoor gear with about 350 employees and 39 retail outlets, struggled with fragmented and unreliable communications: eleven Exchange servers, outdated PBX telephony, underused SharePoint, and a small IT team stretched thin maintaining 40 applications. Frequent outages, limited conferencing, and large travel requirements hampered collaboration across offices in Europe, North America and Asia.

To fix this, Helly Hansen deployed Microsoft Office 365 E4—moving to Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Skype for Business (with on‑premises enterprise voice), assisted by partners Atea and Skill and ADFS for single sign‑on. The cloud rollout delivered reliable 25 GB mailboxes, consistent Outlook access, team sites, IM/presence and video/desktop sharing, letting IT retire legacy servers and PBX gear. Results included faster collaboration, freed IT resources for strategic work, reduced travel by an estimated 10–15% (pilot savings €15,500) and lower mobile/telephony costs, all under a financially backed 99.9% SLA.
