GameStop, the world’s largest multichannel video game retailer with thousands of stores, faced inconsistent store communications and operational inefficiencies: only managers had email, important updates were lost in daily message floods, and managers relied on bulky binders to track store data. This led to disengaged associates, uneven customer experiences across more than 6,000 locations, and slow information flow that hampered sales and service.

GameStop deployed a Microsoft Office 365–based retail portal (built on SharePoint Online and integrated with its POS) to deliver images, videos, product facts and daily tasks directly to store terminals. The solution eliminated paper binders, gave all store staff real-time access to up-to-date information, boosted engagement and consistency of the in-store experience, and is saving the company about US$700,000 annually — with further gains expected from increased sales and expanded Office 365 functionality.
