BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, a Los Angeles–based apparel retailer with about 10,000 employees and more than 1,200 stores, needed to modernize an aging messaging and productivity environment (Exchange Server 2003 and Office 2003) that limited email storage, hampered collaboration, and required capital investments the company didn’t want to make. IT wanted a cloud-based, pay-as-you-go model that would minimize disruption and reduce ongoing management overhead.
After a six-week evaluation of Google Apps and Microsoft Office 365, BCBG chose Office 365 for its familiar Outlook/Office experience and flexible subscription options. Deploying Exchange Online and Office Professional Plus cut IT management burden, gave users 25 GB mailboxes and up-to-date Office tools, and enabled better collaboration (with plans to add Lync). The subscription model eliminated large up-front costs, allowed monthly scaling of licenses, and freed IT to focus on strategic projects.
