Case Study: Detroit Wallpaper boosts productivity and secures collaboration with Office 365

A Office 365 Case Study

Preview of the Detroit Wallpaper Case Study

Detroit startup artfully applies all-in-one solution that promotes secure collaboration, helps it redefine home décor

Detroit Wallpaper Co., a Ferndale, Michigan print‑on‑demand custom wallpaper startup founded in 2004, grew quickly from a basement operation to a 9,000‑sq‑ft studio but struggled with a patchwork IT setup. Disparate email apps, an unreliable on‑premises server, client artwork on CDs, and inconsistent devices created inefficiencies, forced founders into IT roles, and couldn’t support rising project volumes.

With help from managed IT partner Red Level, Detroit Wallpaper migrated to Office 365/Microsoft 365 Business—standardizing on Outlook and Exchange Online, adopting Teams for project collaboration, Sway and Skype for client presentations, and OneDrive for secure cloud storage. The shift streamlined workflows, strengthened security, freed the founders to focus on design and growth, and cut waste and production costs (recovering an estimated 10–15% of the budget) while boosting productivity and collaboration.
