Davidson Academy expands the boundaries of the classroom for both teachers and students with Microsoft Teams

Davidson Academy, a medium-sized K–12 school in the U.S., needed a better way for teachers and students to collaborate in an already largely digital, one-to-one device environment. Teachers were often isolated during the day, relied on clunky file-sharing and email threads, and wanted a secure platform that could extend learning beyond class time and give every student—including quieter ones—a voice.

After a year-long pilot, the math department adopted Microsoft Teams integrated with OneNote Class Notebook. Teams centralized files, enabled simultaneous editing and transparent conversations, reduced versioning and email clutter, and supported “vertical teaming” across grades. The result: teachers save time, collaborate more effectively, and can extend instruction and student interaction outside class, with school-wide rollout planned based on strong teacher and student adoption.
