Cutting edge in any language: technology at the French American School of Puget Sound

The French American School of Puget Sound (FASPS) is a 419‑student K–12 bilingual school that teaches in French and English and adds additional languages in middle school. With a one‑to‑one Surface Pro program in middle school, 150–200 devices in circulation, and more than 300 devices deployed annually by a mostly one‑person IT team, FASPS needed a way to manage grade‑appropriate app deployment, support older Windows applications, and protect student identity and data without creating a huge administrative burden.

FASPS implemented Microsoft Intune for Education together with Office 365, Microsoft Teams, School Data Sync and Azure Active Directory to automate app and setting deployments by group, provide backward compatibility for legacy Windows apps, and provision OneNote Class Notebooks automatically. The result: faster, remote device management; stronger security and identity management; teachers receiving ready‑to‑use class resources; and students able to personalize devices with language packs while building essential digital‑literacy skills.
