UrbaCon General Contracting, an 8,000‑employee construction firm based in Qatar, needed a better way to support a highly mobile workforce and manage IT. The company found Google Apps for Business cumbersome, lacking unified communications and integration with its on‑premises Active Directory, which forced IT staff to spend hours each week manually reconciling accounts and left executives without unified email/voicemail access while traveling.
UrbaCon moved to Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Lync Online, and Office Pro), using Directory Synchronization to link Exchange to Active Directory and enable single sign‑on. The migration delivered unified voicemail in Outlook, presence and conferencing via Lync, automated account synchronization (saving about 10 hours per week), stronger security through consistent policies, and higher productivity for employees working remotely or on job sites.
