Case Study: Public Art Fund brings Ai Weiwei’s "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors" to life with For Office Use Only’s graphic identity and book design

A For Office Use Only Case Study

Public Art Fund showcases Ai Weiwei’s 300+ locations with For Office Use Only

The graphic design studio For Office Use Only was engaged by the Public Art Fund to create a graphic identity system and exhibition catalog for Ai Weiwei's city-wide public art exhibition, "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors." The challenge was to visually frame the exhibition's themes addressing the global migration crisis and to create a cohesive way to document and present an exhibition spanning over 300 locations across New York City.

For Office Use Only developed a bold graphic identity and a 350-page exhibition catalog that served as the definitive record of the entire project. The solution extended the established visual system into a book featuring thousands of images, testimonials, and public contributions. This work by For Office Use Only was highly successful, winning multiple awards including the prestigious Grand Prix Award at DNA Paris, along with recognition from the Art Directors Club and Communication Arts.
