Motis Went Open-Source to Make Firefighters More Effective

Motis, a six-person manufacturer based in Hamilton, Canada, makes the Snagger—an S-shaped hose-handling tool designed by a firefighter to make handling charged fire hoses safer and lighter. After rapid growth from a viral video, Motis struggled with fragmented and expensive software: QuickBooks/Shopify/ShipStation workflows required re-entering order data up to three times, and Microsoft Business Central proved costly and hard to implement for their small team, obscuring true product costs and hindering scale.
