Case Study: Parmerit achieves flexible offline robotic plasma cutting with OCTOPUZ

A OCTOPUZ Case Study

Preview of the Parmerit Case Study

Parmerit developed and built a custom robotic plasma cutting solution for Wolfe, using OCTOPUZ

Parmerit, an equipment integration specialist, needed a custom robotic plasma cutting solution for its own production and future client offerings. To prove out the automation concept before parts reached the floor, Parmerit wanted to simulate the process offline and generate robot programs without interrupting machine production, using an ABB robot and Thermal Dynamics plasma cutting head with OCTOPUZ Offline Programming and Simulation.

OCTOPUZ provided a flexible graphical programming platform with an open environment for customization, helping Parmerit handle collision avoidance, robot configuration changes, clearance moves, and interactions with loading tables and fixtures. OCTOPUZ engineering support also helped improve positioning accuracy and integrate plasma controller commands with offline post processing, resulting in a more adaptable plasma cutting cell that Parmerit can continue to develop using OCTOPUZ and Python-based customization.
