Accumetal Manufacturing Inc., a Stratford, Ontario-based high-mix fabricator of welded components for the off-road mining industry, needed a better way to handle growing demand on its Panasonic welding cell. After years of manual welding and manual robot programming, the company turned to OCTOPUZ Offline Programming and Simulation Software to help relieve pressure on welders and support more automation.

OCTOPUZ implemented offline programming for Accumetal’s new Panasonic robotic welding system, including tools to generate weld paths, quickweld features, and conversion to Panasonic-specific code. The result was a faster workflow with less robot downtime and a significant reduction in initial programming time—down from as much as one to two full days per part to roughly half a day to one day for an acceptable first-off, effectively cutting programming time in half.
