A OCTOPUZ Case Study
Conestoga College, through student Marko Mateiase, needed a way to integrate offline programming into a robotics research project as part of a manufacturing welding curriculum. The challenge was to bridge classroom learning with real-world industrial robot programming using an ABB IRB 4 and Fronius TransSteel welding equipment, while validating reach and weld feasibility.
OCTOPUZ provided its offline robot programming and simulation software to support reach studies and generate multi-pass welds. With OCTOPUZ, Marko was able to prove reach in virtual space and create a 6-pass weld in under 2 seconds instead of about 14 minutes by hand, helping speed up programming, reduce downtime, and better prepare students for an industry-standard workflow.
