Diligent, a global provider of governance, risk, compliance and board management software with over 1 million users, needed to modernize complex, multi–data center deployments that were run by manual scripts on Windows servers. Deployments typically took four days over two weekends with 3–4 engineers, creating inconsistencies, limited visibility, and compliance risks. To automate and simplify releases, Diligent adopted Octopus Deploy.

Using Octopus Deploy (including its Tenants feature, variable/secrets management and step templates), Diligent implemented repeatable, auditable deployment processes across environments. The change let one engineer release to all 10 data centers in 2–3 hours (down from multi‑day deployments), enabled more frequent, smaller releases instead of quarterly monoliths, and improved security and auditability through centralized variables and records.
