Axpo, Switzerland’s largest producer of renewable energy, needed to simplify manual deployments for its Trading IT (ETRM) teams that support a complex, heritage platform. Deployments were time-consuming, error-prone (failing about 50% of the time), and required constant human oversight, so Axpo selected Octopus Deploy to provide deployment automation, environments, variable sets, step templates and runbooks that could flexibly integrate with teams’ existing tools.

Octopus Deploy automated Axpo’s complex release pipeline, starting with a few projects and scaling to hundreds, enabling on‑demand environment provisioning and scoped variables plus fine‑grained access control and auditability. The result: error rates fell from over 50% to almost zero, deployment times dropped from hours to minutes, release cadence moved from monthly to fortnightly (or more often), and the team now manages 20–30 environments with confidence — all delivered via Octopus Deploy.
