A Octant AI Case Study
The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, in collaboration with the Australian Road Research Board and the National Asset Centre of Excellence, engaged Octant AI to investigate whether its AI technology could improve the predictability and management of risk across its capital-intensive portfolio of transport projects, aiming to better forecast costs and prevent overruns.
Octant AI built and tested a unique, specifically trained AI model on the department's historical project data. The solution delivered significantly improved forecasting, including an 87% improvement in portfolio cost forecast accuracy and an average of four months' earlier warning for project underruns. This resulted in substantial cost savings, averaging $148,000 per project, and established the department as a world leader in pioneering AI for transport projects.
