Periscopic, a data storytelling and visualization firm, needed a better way to collaborate across strategists, developers, and designers while building client-facing narratives on sensitive issues like climate change and public health. Using Observable and its notebook-based collaboration features, Periscopic enabled multiple teammates, including non-coders, to co-create, comment, and make changes in real time through a simple shared URL. Observable helped the team save significant development and design time, improve workflow and cross-functional collaboration, and produce more cohesive stories faster—allowing them to handle tight deadlines and even build a finalist submission for a climate change challenge in a fraction of the time previously required.
