Safer seas for New Zealand as technology successfully delivers maritime regulatory reforms

Maritime New Zealand, the national maritime regulator and response agency, needed to implement two major regulatory reforms for seafarer and operator certification within just seven months. Its existing vessel-focused systems were not integrated and could not support the new requirements, so it turned to Objective Corporation and Objective RegWorks to help deliver the change on time.

Objective Corporation implemented Objective RegWorks as a configurable regulatory platform with new workflows, business rules, data migration, and decision support for SeaCERT and MOSS applications. The first phase was delivered in April 2014, seven months after commencement, within budget, and improved processing efficiency, reduced turnaround times, and gave Maritime New Zealand better transparency and more consistent decision making, while also providing a framework for future legislative and policy changes.
