Protecting by connecting: Improving collaboration across an entire social care network for rapid child welfare response

Middlesbrough Council needed a faster, more secure way to coordinate child welfare responses when young people went missing. Its previous phone- and email-based processes were slow, clunky, and risky for sharing sensitive information across the council, police, and other agencies, so the council adopted Objective Connect.

With Objective Connect, Middlesbrough Council created shared workspaces for missing children cases, using live notifications, pre-populated forms, document versioning, and controlled access to bring multiple agencies together quickly and securely. Objective Connect helped cut delays, improve auditing and confidentiality, give staff a fuller 360-degree view of each child, and support collaboration among around 96 participants; the platform was also later used for thousands of safety plans during the Covid-19 response.
