Waldeck Consulting models 1.1 million passengers with Oasys Software

Waldeck Consulting, now part of Morson Praxis, faced the challenge of validating the design for the major redevelopment of Perry Barr Station in Birmingham. They needed to ensure the station could handle a predicted 58% increase in passenger traffic for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and future demand. To accomplish this, they utilized pedestrian simulation software from Oasys Software, specifically Oasys MassMotion.

Using the four-step MassMotion strategy of Create, Simulate, Analyse, and Revise, Waldeck was able to model various scenarios including peak train times, event traffic, and reduced capacity. The solution from Oasys Software enabled quick assessment of design changes and identified potential stress points, confirming the design's suitability and facilitating streamlined, cost-effective decision-making for the client.
