Waldeck Consulting - Customer Case Study

Waldeck Consulting worked with Oasys Software on the major redevelopment of Perry Barr Station in Birmingham, where they needed to test whether the station design could handle forecast demand of 1.1 million passengers in 2027, a 58% increase from base flows. The team used Oasys MassMotion to model pedestrian movement and assess capacity, flow, and congestion risks for both everyday operations and special event conditions.

Using Oasys Software’s MassMotion and its Create, Simulate, Analyse, and Revise approach, Waldeck Consulting imported the station geometry, ran peak and disruption scenarios, and stress-tested options such as out-of-hours use, event traffic, reduced entrance capacity, ticket barriers, and maximum peak demand. The analysis confirmed the design was suitable, helped streamline the scheme to fit budget and visual goals, and allowed Waldeck Consulting to quickly assess proposed platform changes before incurring abortive works.
