University of Nottingham completes roof replacement in just a few hours with Oasys Software

The University of Nottingham faced the challenge of replacing the Grade II-listed tensile fabric roof on its Castle Meadow Campus while preserving its exact form. Oasys Software, through its Oasys GSA analysis software powered by GsRelax, was used to accurately assess the structural behaviour of the existing roof and model the complex deconstruction and reconstruction sequence required.

The solution from Oasys involved integrating GSA with other modelling tools to create a highly intuitive and complex model from multiple data sources. Using GsRelax and staged analysis, engineers were able to monitor structural stresses throughout the process, successfully identifying the need for temporary propping and developing a successful replacement sequence. A senior structural engineer stated that the project would not have been possible without the use of Oasys GSA.
