TraffMobility improves multimodal transit flow with Oasys MassMotion in a 3D pedestrian simulation

TraffMobility, a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, partnered with Strasman Architects Inc. on a project to design a multi-modal transit hub. Their challenge was to demonstrate the connectivity of the building's levels and mode transfers, and to understand the complex pedestrian traffic flows within the multilevel space to ensure the design would meet user needs, especially during peak hours. To address this, they utilized Oasys MassMotion software for a data-driven pedestrian simulation.

Using the Oasys MassMotion software, TraffMobility developed a dynamic pedestrian model to simulate operations. This solution allowed the team to produce detailed time-based animations and heat maps, enabling them to test multiple design options across a variety of scenarios. The 3D environment of the Oasys product was particularly effective for communicating the impact of the design to clients and stakeholders, helping to validate that the final design would fully optimize the infrastructure for passenger flow and experience.
