Parsons Brinkerhoff (Ireland) Limited - Customer Case Study

Parsons Brinkerhoff (Ireland) Limited worked with Oasys Software on a deep basement excavation in Cavan, Ireland, where limited working space, nearby buildings, and opposition to tie-backs made wall support especially difficult. The project required a one- to three-storey basement for underground parking and storage beside a hotel, offices, industrial buildings, and a national road.

Oasys Software’s Frew and AdSec tools were used to design and check a contiguous piled retaining wall with raked buttress piles, and to size the reinforcement for the wall. The solution delivered an economical alternative that controlled movement effectively, with Frew predicting maximum deflections of 17mm in the cantilever section and 13mm in the buttressed section; monitoring later recorded only 12mm and 7mm respectively, confirming strong performance.
