The customer, IBEX Consulting Engineers, faced the challenge of stabilizing a construction site adjacent to a railway embankment for the White House Bristol project. Their work involved demolishing an existing structure and building two new three-storey buildings, requiring careful ground movement assessment to ensure the nearby railway infrastructure was not compromised. They utilized software from the vendor Oasys, specifically Oasys PDisp and Oasys XDisp, for this critical analysis.

The Oasys solution involved using PDisp to model vertical ground movements from excavation and construction loading, and XDisp to perform a more detailed 3D analysis of both horizontal and vertical displacements. The results showed that the maximum track settlement was less than 1mm, with a negligible impact on the railway tracks' cant and twist. This accurate assessment from Oasys software gave the project team the confidence to proceed, ensuring the safety and stability of the development.
