HOK benefits from BIM integration of pedestrian simulation

HOK, an architecture and design firm, was moving toward 3D design in 2009 and needed to replace its existing modelling workflow without losing important data. To support this transition, HOK began working with Oasys Software and used MassMotion for pedestrian simulation as part of its BIM process.

Oasys Software added IFC import and improved workflows so Revit models could be brought into MassMotion and Flow with geometry automatically mapped, including links and portals. This reduced manual setup, saved significant time and effort, lowered the learning curve, and let HOK spend more time analyzing and testing designs while using the software for validation, design communication, and real-time pedestrian interaction on projects such as offices, airports, stadiums, and large-scale planning work.
