Evacuation modelling of Cendana apartment building, Guatemala City using Oasys MassMotion

Danta Arquitectura used Oasys Software’s MassMotion to study evacuation planning for the Cendana apartment building in Guatemala City. The project involved a two-tower residential complex with 281 apartment units, and the team wanted to find the safest and most efficient way for residents to evacuate the building.

Using MassMotion, Oasys Software enabled Danta Arquitectura to compare three evacuation scenarios, from a “run, save yourself” worst case to an optimized CONRED-based plan and a final UX scenario with improvements applied. The simulations revealed that the shortest route was not always the fastest, and the analysis led to a 64% reduction in evacuation time compared with the “save yourself” approach, helping the architects design a safer and more efficient building.
