Chorley Inspire Youth Zone - Customer Case Study

Oasys Software helped Chorley Inspire Youth Zone address the structural engineering challenges of designing a new purpose-built facility. The project required a complex steel frame and concrete basement to fit a multi-use games pitch and various activity spaces into a constrained town center site. The design featured intricate geometries and long spans that were potentially susceptible to footfall-induced vibration, requiring a sophisticated analysis to minimize risk and maximize the available floor area.

Using Oasys's GSA software, the engineers built a complete 3D analysis model of the entire superstructure and substructure. This single integrated model allowed them to efficiently calculate forces for a vast number of load cases and optimize the building frame. The solution from Oasys enabled the design team to reduce the overall steel tonnage and directly address vibration concerns, resulting in an efficient and architecturally striking building that was delivered successfully.
