BECA - Customer Case Study

Beca, one of the largest professional services consultancies in the Asia Pacific, faced two significant structural challenges while redeveloping Shed 10 at Auckland's Queens Wharf. They needed to accurately model the vibration performance of a new, long-span staircase and a floor area made livelier by the removal of a line of internal columns to ensure the structure met comfort and safety criteria.

Oasys Software provided the solution through its GSA analysis software, which allowed Beca's team to perform a detailed dynamic analysis and identify critical aspects of the structure's resonance. The tool enabled designers to explore mitigation options and use its graphical outputs to discuss performance and risk clearly with the client. The completed project successfully transformed the historic shed into a primary cruise ship terminal and events venue, which now welcomes over 200,000 visitors annually.
