Arup designs the 550 ft Las Vegas High Roller with Oasys Software

The customer, Arup, faced the complex structural engineering challenge of designing the Las Vegas High Roller, one of the world's largest observation wheels. The immense size of the structure, a constrained site, and unique design considerations like thermal loading and dynamic wind events required sophisticated analysis. Arup selected Oasys Software and used its Oasys GSA product as the primary structural analysis software to meet this challenge.

Oasys GSA provided the solution, enabling Arup engineers to analyze construction sequences, operating conditions, and atypical geometry. The software was integral in studying thermal effects, dynamic characteristics for passenger comfort, differential settlement, and cable pretension to achieve tight construction tolerances. The accuracy and reliability of the Oasys GSA analysis ensured the successful build of the wheel and inspired similar digital workflows within Arup for other projects.
