Arup designs Sea Shell Aquarium roof in 5 months with Oasys Software

The customer, Arup, was appointed to design the complex steel roof for the Sea Shell Aquarium in Vietnam. Their key challenges included rationalizing the architect's complex geometry, working with a long-span steel structure uncommon in the local market, and meeting an extremely tight five-month timeline from concept to construction. To meet this challenge, Arup utilized Oasys GSA software for structural analysis and design.

Oasys GSA was integral to Arup's digital workflow, enabling fast and accurate analysis of over 20 different roof configurations in an iterative process. The software's capabilities allowed engineers to quickly update models and make design decisions on a quantitative basis. This use of Oasys GSA resulted in a resource-efficient and timely solution, ultimately helping the team to rationalize the geometry and successfully deliver the project within the client's aggressive schedule.
