Arup cuts CO2 footprint by more than 50% with Oasys Software

Arup, a global engineering firm, was tasked with designing a sustainable 70-meter-tall hybrid timber-concrete residential building in Amsterdam. Their challenge was to optimize the design for numerous elements including daylight, energy generation, and a reduced carbon footprint, while also managing a complex structural analysis. To meet this challenge, they utilized Oasys Software's GSA analysis and design program.

The solution implemented by Oasys Software involved using GSA in a powerful parametric workflow integrated with Rhino and Grasshopper. This allowed Arup to automate the design of timber elements and extensively explore building options. Through this in-depth analysis with Oasys GSA, the project team optimized the hybrid support structure and successfully reduced the building's CO2 footprint by more than 50%, achieving their key sustainability objective.
