Arkitema optimises Trondheim Central Station passenger flow with Oasys MassMotion

Arkitema, an architecture firm, faced the challenge of designing the new Trondheim Central Station, a large and complex timber transport hub that needed to ensure optimal passenger flow and experience. To meet this challenge, they utilized Oasys MassMotion pedestrian simulation software to model and analyze the movement of people through the station.

Using Oasys MassMotion, Arkitema created, simulated, analyzed, and revised their design. The software allowed them to test different scenarios, including peak hour events, and receive instant graphical feedback. This led to key design changes, such as rotating escalators to improve flow, which enhanced the passenger experience and created space for new amenities. The solution from Oasys provided a solid, data-driven foundation for the design, saving time and costs by validating decisions before implementation.
