Oasys Software worked with Advance Architecture Laboratory at the Singapore University of Technology and Design on the “Future of Us” exhibition, a four-dome structure connected by a large-span gridshell. The team faced a complex structural challenge in designing the metal lattice roof to achieve the intended light-and-shade effect while ensuring the shell could safely span about 50m and rise to 16m.

Using Oasys GSA, Oasys Software helped the engineers model the structure, run modal buckling checks, and identify flat arches with low buckling factors. By stiffening the affected areas and then performing geometrically non-linear analysis with imperfection modelling, they raised the buckling factor from 3 to 8 and verified the final design for safe construction and performance.
