A OAL Case Study
Go-Tan, a major European manufacturer of Asian-inspired sauces, faced challenges with outdated steam-jacketed cooking vessels that were too slow and inefficient to meet growing demand. Their lengthy cooking cycles caused nutrient loss and limited production flexibility, while their 30-year-old factory lacked the space and technology to modernize and meet their CEO's goal of achieving net zero operations. They partnered with vendor OAL to develop a robotic solution.
OAL implemented its Steam Infusion technology and the APRIL Robotics Batch Processing System, which features two robotic "chefs" to automate the cooking process. This solution drastically reduced cook times from over 60 minutes to under 8 minutes for a batch and enabled a production rate of 2,400 kg per hour. The results for Go-Tan included a reduction in product yield losses from 5% to under 1%, the ability to operate the entire plant with just two people instead of 6-10, and a path toward net zero through significantly improved energy efficiency.
