Tracking Emissions for One of Europe's Premier Cycling Races

The Škoda Tour de Luxembourg, a premier European cycling race, partnered with NZero for the second consecutive year to measure and understand its full environmental impact. The challenge was to accurately track greenhouse gas emissions across the multi-day event to inform future decarbonization strategies and establish leadership in sustainable sports.

NZero implemented its emissions tracking service, utilizing primary data from vendors, organizers, and participating teams. The solution provided a highly accurate picture of the event's 165 MTCO2e footprint, identifying that 94% of emissions came from transportation. Despite an 81% increase in reported emissions due to vastly improved data coverage from NZero's efforts, the study revealed critical opportunities for reduction, such as switching to drones and sustainable aviation fuel, which empowers the customer to make data-driven decisions for a greener future.
