Case Study: Las Vegas Raiders achieve zero-emissions football with NZero

A NZero Case Study

Preview of the Las Vegas Raiders Case Study

Powering football's biggest game with 100% renewable, carbon-free energy

The Las Vegas Raiders and their Allegiant Stadium faced the challenge of reducing their environmental impact and establishing leadership in sustainability within the sports world. They sought to go beyond standard practices like carbon offsets to power their operations, including a major sporting event, with clean energy and needed a way to accurately measure their emissions. They partnered with NZero, a real-time data and decarbonization platform, to quantify their footprint and guide their efforts.

NZero provided the platform to measure emissions hourly across all scopes, offering insights for decarbonization and helping to roadmap a net zero plan. This data supported the Raiders' historic switch to a 100% local renewable energy supply. As a result of this initiative and other sustainability programs, NZero validated that stadium emissions dropped by 87% and total organization emissions by 70%, projected to fall from 16,606 to 4,726 MTCO2e. This made the stadium the first in the NFL to be powered entirely by renewable energy, achieving 0% electricity-associated emissions for a major event.
