Large Telecommunications Company, one of two major Australian telecom providers, needed to lower grounding-system costs without sacrificing protection or reliability. Their existing copper tape and copper conductor grounding setup was effective, but it was difficult to install, costly to maintain in remote bush locations, and increasingly vulnerable to copper theft. nVent worked with them to find a better grounding approach using its ERICO grounding products.

nVent replaced the copper tape with nVent ERICO Cu-Bond Round Conductors and added nVent ERICO Cu-Bond Composite Cable for theft deterrence. The new system was easier to transport and install, cut installation time on one company’s sites from around two hours to less than one hour, and delivered equivalent grounding performance and resistance values while lasting an estimated 30–40 years. The solution also reduced theft risk, labor costs, and maintenance needs.
